The Main Purpose of Cooking is Health
Fall brings the perfect time for hearty soups and stews.
If you have our Tuscan Skillet Meal Seasoning in your pantry, you've got a sure-fire way to bring a fresh spin to a soup and salad supper! Learn how to make this amazing soup right at home. Making meals does not have to hard, let us show you more. https://goo.gl/MDat22
Who can resist the mouth-watering pictures in a cookbook?
Who doesn’t have childhood memories of the fragrances that wafted from the kitchen on holidays, and even on regular, ordinary days? Spices, bread baking, cookies fresh out of the oven – all these trigger a deep longing in most of us. As eating holds a guaranteed spot in everybody’s daily schedule, so do those who prepare it. They have become the uncrowned gods and goddesses of our lives.
Real cooking consists of more than opening a can with a dull picture of green beans on the front, or popping a TV dinner from a wax-covered box into the oven or microwave. The true goal of cooking is to nourish these marvelous bodies that we live in, to allow them to grow and express vitality and strength, to keep them healthy and able to overcome environmental germs and bacteria. Summarized in one word, the main purpose of cooking is heath!
When does a fruit or vegetable (or any baked item) furnish us with the most nutrition? The experts feel that food grown in one’s own environment will usually contain the most nutrition. Freshly harvested food provides the maximum nutritional value. After a fruit or vegetable has been sitting for several days, or transported around the world, the value of the vitamins and minerals diminishes.
The best means of ‘cooking’ fruits and vegetables for their health value is to eat them raw in salads or as snacks. As soon as heat is applied, a good quantity of the nutrition is destroyed. A good cook can prepare a beautiful plate with the natural colors of freshly picked fruits and vegetables.
Genetically engineered food has infiltrated the growing of almost all crops. This procedure didn’t exist until the last decade, and it remains highly controversial as the long range effect on humans has never been tested.
Briefly described, this procedure consists of infecting a healthy seed or grain with various bacteria or insects to lengthen its shelf life, to make it look ‘pretty’ for the consumer long after the nutritional value has dissolved. This not only has a negative effect on one’s health, but leaves the cook with a less than delicious product to serve.
Cooking with natural foods that are organically grown (that means with no harmful pesticides or chemical fertilizers) gives today’s health conscious cooks the best chance to delight in the time spent shopping and in the kitchen. Whipping up a carrot cake that will enchant both family and friends (best make two cakes while you’re at it), or preparing a quick but nutritious breakfast so the body will gleefully handle the challenges of the day without needing to be drugged by coffee or caffeine, make heading for the kitchen the favorite part of the day!
Truly the cook is the god of the household!

7 Top Tips For A Long & Healthy Fulfilled Life | Serve it at Home
7 Top Tips For A Long & Healthy Fulfilled Life
As good as modern medical technology is, it can never save you from the problems caused by a life style that is unhealthy. Instead of getting a modern medical fix for every problem, it is far better to live in such a way that you will hardly ever fall ill.
An ounce of prevention is certainly better than a pound of cure. Here are 7 tips on how to live a long and healthy fulfilled life.
In addition, the same life style that helps you to avoid illness also helps you to lose weight.
1. Get Enough Exercise
In the past people had to use their physical bodies in the course of their normal work. But today someone may get up, go to work in a car, then sit down, get up to go home in the car and when arriving at home, sit down again for the rest of the day. In such a life there is no physical labor. This physical inactivity is one of the main reasons for a host of diseases. Sport, running. walking and other things must be added to our life if our normal work does not require us to exert ourselves physically.
2. Go to sleep when you feel sleepy
This may sound simple, but many people stay up late even when their body is telling them that it is time to sleep. Yoga and Ayurvedic doctors also say that it is better to sleep in the night and be active during the day. However, people such as students will take coffee and stimulants to study late into the night. Others develop the habit of remaining active at night and sleeping during the day. While we can do this, it eventually takes a toll on health. Alternative health doctors say that this kind of unnatural living is one of the contributing factors in the causation of cancer and other diseases
3. Eat when you feel hungry
This is also a simple idea, but once again we often go against the messages of the body. If you eat out of habit or due to social pressure at certain time of the day, even when you have no real appetite, then you will not digest your food properly. Acidity and indigestion begin, and this contributes to the likelihood of other more complex diseases taking root. Having an appetite is actually a sign of good health, but if you have no appetite you should wait a bit and then eat. (If you have no appetite even after awaiting a reasonable amount of time, then you should consult a doctor because something is wrong.)
4.Fast on a Regular, Systematic Basis
If you would ask any person to work 365 days per year without any rest, they would complain and say that they must have some rest or else they will break down. But we have never bothered to ask or to think about our digestive organs which we compel to work day after day without a rest. They cannot protest the way a person would to his boss, but they do give us signals that they cannot work non-stop.
When we ignore those signals and still compel them to work, those organs break down. That is why periodic fasting is necessary. Refrain from eating for one complete day. This gives a rest to your digestive organs and also helps in the elimination of wastes from your body. Regular fasting allows a person to gain extra time for intellectual or spiritual pursuits. Fasting is not for hermits in a cave, but is a sensible practice that anyone can practice.
5. Wash with cool water before going to bed
As mentioned above, proper sleep is essential for the maintenance of health. If you wash your important motor and sensory organs (hands, arms, eyes, legs, mouth, genitals) before sleep using cool water, this will relax you and prepare you for deep sleep.
6. Perform meditation on a regular basis
Your body is linked to your mind. Many of the diseases of this era are psychosomatic. Stress and anxiety take their toll on our physical health. Meditation is a mental exercise which, among other things, allows you to detach yourself from the worries of life. Learn a simple technique and do it regularly.
7. Get up early every day
Once again the old proverb, “Early to bed, early to rise makes a person healthy, wealthy and wise.” I don’t know if it will make you wealthy, but it will certainly make you healthy.
Your body needs just enough sleep, not too much and not too little.
→→→Follow these tips and you can’t go wrong.

Mobile apps for food lovers
Mobile apps for food lovers
Last time, in our last post, posting on the joy of food, we discussed websites and social sites that can inspire you and awaken (or re-awaken) your taste buds. In the digital age, websites, blogs, Facebook groups and Pinterest boards are not the only places to get great ideas and inspiration. If you have a smartphone, chances are there’s an app for that too.
There are of course many more apps for the iPhone than Android, but the best apps are available for both. In addition, Android is catching up, with some powerful foodie-apps designed to make your life easier.
Wildtree
Has some fantastic recipes right on our page. And most app recognize Wildtree for the "calories" and so much more directly from your smartphone!
SideChef
This is ideal for new cooks, giving step-by-step photos and instructions. The instructions can also be made verbal so you don’t have to get distracted looking back and forth at the screen, and it helps you time your recipes as well.
Yummly
You get to "Yumm" (like) recipes and enter any dietary restrictions first. Then this app will keep delivering more and more suggestions based on what you’ve put in. Great for the solo cook, but a bit tricky for families.
Kitchen Stories
This gorgeous app has excellent presentations of tasty recipes and a good search feature. They also make it easy to create a shopping list for each recipe.
ChefSteps
The free app has excellent how-to instructions, so it is ideal for beginners and intermediate cooks wanting to add to their skills. The paid version is packed with recipes. This app is pretty plain in appearance but that does make it easier to use.
Food Network in the Kitchen
This great app gives you all your favorites from the network right in the palm of your hand.
Epicurious
30,000 recipes at your fingertips. No more need to worry about what to make for dinner!
There are many more apps than this, but these are good for beginners. Also, try not to overdo it on apps. Remember, as cool as an app might be, they will take up room and eat up resources on your phone, so read the reviews and give each app a test drive to see if it suits you and is worth making room for.
Now that you have your recipes organized and are bursting with enthusiasm due to all the inspiration you’ve found online and in your apps, it’s time to consider how to introduce new meals to your family.
Until next time!

13 Steps to make Your Own Peanut Butter at Home
13 Steps to make Your Own Peanut Butter at Home
I can't believe we HAVE it in our mind to buy Peanut Butter. Why?
To make peanut butter all you have to do is get peanuts and add them to the food processor, or a blender. Wa-la it's peanut butter. Who knew right!
My Mom was at the grocery store today looking for peanut butter with no added chemicals, sugars, salts and oils. Guess what, good luck - it's not easy to find! So I said, grab some peanuts and let's make our own.
When you buy peanuts at the grocery store, 9 out of 10 times they've already been salted and toasted. Well at this store anyway. You can find unsalted too. So, we grabbed a bag of peanuts and took them home.
This is the 13 Step Process on how to make peanut butter.
- Open the bag of peanuts
- Smell the peanuts, because it's so necessary
- Take a handful and put them in your mouth.
- Try not to take another handful.
- Put the bag of peanuts in the food processor
- Close the lid
- Turn the processor on
- Let run for 2-3 minutes
- Scrape down the sides, see if it needs more blending
- Continue blending
- Grab a mason jar
- Fill the jar
- Wa-La you have peanut butter! Can you believe it?
We need to get away from these companies cheating us out of our money and health!
It's simple, easy and your in control of your food!

Spicy Sweet Potato Fries
Spicy Sweet Potato Fries
When growing up I never would even try a sweet potato!
But it was once a year at our house, Thanksgiving time to try sweet potatoes loaded up with butter and brown sugar, oh and don't forget the marshmallows! How can you go wrong with all the extra sugars, hehe! But, once a year I would at least try the sweet potatoes, even if it was eating the top sugary filling!
Well, many, many years later --- I wonder why I'm over weight and can't lose weight!? Because the simple things in life, with their own sugars, should be eaten daily -- at least weekly! So recently I've changed my food diet to be more Vegan. Tired of the the aches, pains, tiredness every day! I have to change my mindset and figure out what is better for my body! Taking away dairy and meats is changing my body and my mindset daily. I feel so much better and free. My mind is clear and I feel more positive as the "change" happens.
Stopped by last week to buy a bulk amount of sweet potatoes from Sam's Club. I have to say I was impressed with the sweet potatoes they had. So, I've been on top of the sweet potato fries and making them different each and every time. You can make them on how you feel today -- sweet or savory. What do you want! No one else makes them your way, so make it your way!
Today I'm make spicy sweet potato fries in my own kitchen.

Homemade Bean Soup I Crockpot Style
Can you believe it’s already holiday time again?
I feel like every time I get ready for the Summer to end, it’s already holiday time. Time just flies faster and faster every year! What do you think? Do you rush your days?
Seems like we always want to RUSH the weeks, but boy, the weeks are flying so fast already on their own. Why do we do that? If it’s Monday, we wish for Friday! If it’s Sunday, we wish it was not Sunday! I have this feeling more as a work a Corporate job, compared to a home job! So I love my home job waaaay more than the Corporate job!
Today was a day of patience! Did I say patience? Oh my, not my in my line of work haha! I try hard to have patience but it doesn’t come easy! What do I mean by this? I wanted to clean out my pantry today and check what foods I could use now and not go to the store. I feel I constantly add more and more food to my pantry and don’t follow my own words “use up what you have before going to the store!” So, with that being said, I decided to use up my dry beans! I had in my mind, I’m going to make a good bean soup. Even though in Arizona, it’s chilly these last few days, so I needed to make a good soup!
OH my! Thank goodness for Facebook! Some days I just think I have it all together to make a simple soup! But, I did what the package said, and it didn’t work.
- Clean the beans
- Soak over night and add some salt (added pink Himalayan salt)
- Soaked in the Cast Iron Dutch Oven pan with a heavy lid
- Soaked over night and then in the morning rinsed the beans
- Added new water after rinsing
- Put the beans back in the Dutch Oven pan and cook till boiling
- Let soak for 4 hours
Okay, the beans should be ready! Ah no! The beans were hard as rock still, after all that! So headed over to my mom’s that are on Facebook and asked “what is the secret to dry beans?” Well, it seems like the Crockpot is a better way to cook the beans and keep them cooking long term. So, back to the Crockpot and on high for a few hours! Wa-La! It was what these beans needed to soften! Patience and the Crockpot!
Added a good amount of spices, a few teaspoons of Wildtree Bouillon Soup base and a can of tomatoes. Wa-La the soup is amazing! I did let it cook all day with the spices and mixed can of tomatoes, the bean soup is fantastic!
So just a quick reminder! Wish homemade food, it takes Patience!
What would you add? Do you make soup often? What do you like to add to your soups for great flavors?

What is direct selling?
Some 15.2 million people in the United States are involved in direct
selling, with total sales at $29.6 billion in the US and $114 billion
worldwide, according to the Direct Selling Association,
a Washington, DC-based trade group of firms that manufacture and
distribute goods and services. Cosmetics, health items, and wellness
products are among those that tend to do well, says Doris Wood, chairman
of the Irvine. California-based Multilevel Marketing International Association, a professional organization of direct sales companies and distributors.
Amy M. Robinson, DSA's vice president of communications says direct selling should not be confused with other business conducted outside of a fixed retail location, such as telemarketing, shopping mall kiosks, or work-from-home ventures such as envelop stuffing. Direct selling is primarily done one-on-one, at product demonstrations, or home shopping parties—the most widely recognized sales method where friends and family gather for a few hours to learn about and sample the product.
