Organic Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil for Cooking

organic coconut oil

Add natural, nutritious, exotic flair to your next dish

This delicious superfood will change the way you cook forever. It can be used for oven roasting, pan frying, and in place of butter in many baking recipes. In addition to its exotic flavor, coconut oil has an endless list of health benefits. Still not impressed? Incorporate this diverse product into your beauty regimen and enjoy various cosmetic benefits as well.

Health and Science

• Coconut oil is 86.5% saturated fatty acid. 1

• 58.1% of the saturated fatty acids are medium chain fatty acids 1 which compose medium-chain-triglycerides (MCTs). 2

• Although the prevailing advice for the past 50 years has been to avoid and reduce saturated fat, recent studies show that certain types of saturated fat (like MCTs) can be beneficial to health.

- Firstly, a diet rich in MCTs has been shown to potentially "... reduce body weight and fat in individuals...more than the LCT [long chain triglyceride] diet." 5
- Secondly, MCTs result in a greater loss of adipose tissue (body fat) "...perhaps due to increased energy expenditure...observed with MCT intake" 6

• As part of a balanced diet, plus exercise, using coconut oil in the place of a selection of other fats or oils has been shown to promote a reduction in abdominal obesity. 3

Culinary

• Coconut oil can be used in most applications that call for oils, with the exception of deep frying. (Coconut oil has a low smoke point
of 350°F). 4

• With some recipe modifications, coconut oil can be used in place of butter in many baking applications. (the ratio isn't always 1:1 because butter is 85% fat and coconut oil is 100%).

• Try roasting your vegetables in coconut oil for southeast Asian dishes or to add a coconut flair to any meal.

• Pan fry the vegetables in coconut oil for Wildtree's Tikka Masala to add a little extra punch of flavor!

Wildtree Freezer Meal Workshops – Saving you money on your food bill

Wildtree Freezer Meal Workshops – Saving you money on your food bill

I’ve been successfully leading Wildtree Freezer Meal workshops and can wholeheartedly testify to the fact that these workshops are saving people a LOT of money on their food bill…

Most people do not grocery shop for ten complete, protein-rich meals all at one time. This is the primary reason people look at the “upfront” cost of these workshops and hesitate a bit. Saving money takes a bit of planning – as well as taking a hard look at how we are spending money on food every month. I would guess that the majority of Americans do not even know what they spend on groceries each month. Do you add up every bit of food you buy for your home? According to the USDA Cost of Food Report (you can Google this to see for yourself!), the AVERAGE American family of four (with 2 grade-school aged children) is spending about $1020 each month on food eaten IN THE HOME. When you consider that the ten dinners you will make with Wildtree will cost approximately $150-$180 (that breaks down to about $2.50 - $3 per person/per meal), you can see that cooking this way will save you a whole lot of your monthly food budget!

If you were to go to the store right now and purchase everything you need for TEN complete and healthy dinners for 5-6 people(including meat in each of those ten meals) – how much do you think you would spend? Now think of the times you go out to dinner because you didn’t plan ahead or have nothing easy to prepare on busy evenings? I guarantee you that you would spend at least twice what the cost is for the ten meals you will make with Wildtree. Not to mention that with Wildtree freezer meal workshops, you go home with the ten meals PLUS the leftover Wildtree products for at least 20 more meals… This will even further push your food cost down! Most of my regular Freezer Meal customers tell me that they estimate they are saving about 25-30% on their food bill. That’s considerable savings!

But sometimes, people just honestly don’t want to spend that much all at once…. some prefer to spread out their budget more evenly over the month. Here’s a couple options to consider:

1) Purchase your Wildtree bundle first. This is usually done well in advance of the workshop. Then you can do your grocery shopping right before workshop day, which is usually 1 ½ to 2 weeks later, which is sometimes even in a different pay period.

2) You don’t need to purchase ALL the protein and groceries before the workshop. There are many customers who come to workshops with JUST their freezer bags. They fill the bags with the Wildtree recipes and extras that are provided at the workshop. Then, they can fill their bags later as they need them – buying only the meat they need for that coming week.
